ABC World News: NYC Passes Ban on Super Sized Sugary Sodas

Sugary Drinks09 13 2012 ABC World News with Diane Sawyer reported that New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg got his wish.  She reminded us how everyone mocked him when he proposed to ban the sale of supersized sugary sodas in New York City in an effort to reduce the obesity epidemic we are facing in the United States.  Today the New York City Board of Health passed his proposal.  Starting in six months, New York restaurants and movies theaters can only sell 16 ounces of soda in 1 cup.

In Diane Sawyer’s interview with Mayor Bloomberg in May of 2012 she disclosed the mayor’s position on government intervention was that of education. They were not seeking to take away anyone’s rights.  Read More…
