Calcium Cocktail – Calcium Magnesium

Dr. Oz says that fewer than 15% of women over 40 get the calcium they need, so has recommended calcium supplements numerous times on his show.  But he stresses to never take a calcium supplement alone. You need to combine it with magnesium and vitamin D.  The calcium supplement will cause constipation, but the magnesium will help your bowels to stay soft. The vitamin D is needed because it helps your body to absorb the calcium.  He has recommended taking the three in a cocktail with the following proportions:

The Dr. Oz “Calcium Cocktail”

  • 600 mg Calcium
  • 400 mg Magnesium
  • 1000 IU Vitamin D3

You can actually buy supplements that will combine calcium and magnesium or some that combine all three.
