Blueberries10-4-2012 Dr. Oz weighs in on the new study making the headlines that imply that organic food may not be healthier than conventional food. Researchers at Stanford found that organic foods have the same nutritional value as conventional foods, so the media headlines question if organics may not be worth the money. Dr. Oz says there is a glaring catch to this information.  The study seems to put more weight on the nutritional value of food and not as much concern for the toxic chemical pesticides that we consume in some of these conventional foods. He feels that the pesticides in food is a threat to our children’s health.  Dr. Oz believes that eating organic foods is one of the best ways to avoid exposure to this health threat and therefore organic food is worth the investment!

Dr. Oz: Michelle Obama. Obesity Epidemic. Solutions.

First Lady Michelle Obama with Dr. Oz09-12-2012 First Lady Michelle Obama appeared on The Dr. Oz Show  and talked with Dr. Oz about her role as First Lady in our national debate over Childhood Obesity.  She explained to Dr. Oz that among the many issues that she could have focused on as First Lady, why she chose obesity.  She said before her White House days and as a working mother of two kids,  she faced some of the same health challenges as other working families.  She found that she was eating out more than she knew was healthy, she didn’t have the opportunity to cook home meals as much and she wasn’t paying attention to portion sizes.  Continue reading “Dr. Oz: Michelle Obama. Dr Oz: Childhood Obesity. Should The Child Be Removed From The Home?

Should the courts remove obese children from the home?The Dr. Oz Show presented the controversial subject of childhood obesity and should it be considered child abuse.  We were introduced to parents of obese children who felt some responsibility for their child’s obesity problem but didn’t think it should be considered child abuse. But the childhood obesity is increasing at such an alarming rate that states across the country are trying to find ways to intervene for the health and safety of the child.  There have been cases where children have been taken from the home.  Have we gone too far?  Is taking a child from their home really going to help?
