Fish Oil Supplements. New Study. Blanket Statement May Be Giving The Wrong Message.

Omega 3 SupplementsA new study recently being reported by the news media about fish oil supplements, is concluding that some medical professionals think that the supplements may not be worth your money!  ANewDayANewMe.com wonder if this conclusion may be “jumping the gun” on the benefits of fish oil supplements and may be giving the wrong message to those who might benefit from taking it. Heart conditions are not be the only benefit to consuming such an important nutrient as omega 3’s.  Several of us here at ANewDayANewMe.com had joined the fish oil band wagon a few years ago and started taking a quality fish oil capsule containing 400mg EPA, 300mg DHA and 100mg of other omega 3’s. Within weeks we saw positive results! 

Being at least 20 pounds over weight, weight loss efforts were made so much more difficult because of extreme cravings of fatty foods.  Bingeing on fatty rich ice cream and chicken wings is a sure fire way to sabotage any dieting effort! But after taking the fish oil supplement and really not noticing when,  the cravings stopped and the weight came off! 

Another condition was a 3 inch patch of thick, dry, crusty skin that was a chronic annoyance for a few years.  No amount of recommended lotions or creams could get rid of it.  But after a few weeks of taking the fish oil supplements, that crusty patch just disappeared!

Swollen and painful finger joints would chronically appear in different knuckles every few months in one woman’s experience.  She could not wear her favorite rings for years. Within weeks of taking the fish oil supplements the problem improved.  She has not had the swollen joint pain in the years since taking the fish oil supplements!

Dr. Mark Hyman, when he appeared on The Dr. Oz Show, said “these are the most essential things that we need every day.  It is what we as humans evolved eating. We used to eat sufficient quantities of these three essential Omega 3 fatty acids in wild animals and plants.”

But today there are very few sources of these essential nutrients because the majority of our animals and even salmon are now being “factory farmed,” eating a cheaper corn based diet which does not promote high omega 3 content in what eventually ends up on our plates.

One of the few richest sources of Omega 3 EPA and DHA left today are wild, oily, cold water fish such as wild salmon, sardines and mackerel and fish oil supplements from these wild fish!

Please do not dismiss the benefits of quality fish oil supplements. Even better, seek ways to turn back the hands of time. Grown your own vegetables, pasture your own chickens, support local farmers who pasture.  It is not impossible!
